The Refraline Group of Companies consists of Refraline, Refraline Natal, DCE Corrosion Engineering and WR Refractory Services - with headquarters at 82 Bell Street in Meadowdale, Germiston. Established in 1981, Refraline has grown from strength-to-strength over the decades, and is today recognised as one of leading refractory contracting companies in sub-Saharan Africa.

Refraline is a specialist in the installation, repair and maintenance of refractory solutions for a wide range of industries including iron and steel, ferro-alloys, non-ferrous metals, platinum group metals, chemical and petrochemical, cement and lime, power generation, mining, clay brick, glass and ceramics. The company employs a core workforce of more than 400 permanent skilled staff, supplemented by a substantial pool of temporary personnel.

Refraline has undertaken numerous prestigious contracts throughout sub-Saharan Africa, including; South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique and Mauritius. Projects have also been completed as far afield as Ethiopia, the Middle East and Australia. The company's reputation has been built on its reliability, flexibility and fast response times.

The company is well equipped to handle several refractory contracts simultaneously, employing sophisticated techniques and using specialised construction equipment. For effective lining removal in kilns and ladles, the company boasts remote-controlled Brokk MB 330 and MB 150 demolishing machines which reduce downtime, increase productivity and improve safety. Other world-class equipment includes hydraulically operated, telescopic, rough terrain forklifts, which deliver refractory materials to otherwise inaccessible locations, special mixing and pneumatic conveying machinery and pneumatically operated bricking rigs.

Refraline can offer full line supply, from sourcing to installing refractories, by stationing highly skilled and experienced staff on site, thereby enabling companies to focus on their core competencies. Refraline also manages entire fleets of ladles, ensuring optimum availability and on-time delivery of hot ladles to operations departments.

Refraline is a founding member of the Refractories Association of South Africa (RASA) - an organisation that has a keen interest in the skills development of future refractory installers.

As a socially responsible corporate citizen, Refraline is committed to legitimate economic empowerment of previously disadvantaged people through their talents, efforts and commitment to success. Refraline has transformed our 100 per cent subsidiary Refraline Natal with the sale of 26 per cent of the issued share capital to a Black controlled company in 2011, in lieu of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE), and currently holds a Level 4 BEE certificate.

A total of 10 per cent of the shareholding of Refraline is held by the Refraline Employees Share Scheme. Refraline regards training and development of its employees as an integral element, addressing the unequal distribution of skills in the Industry.
